Under county law, Westchester County must auction off usable, surplus goods to the highest bidder. Traditionally, this was done through public auctions or sealed bids. In 2004, eBay was added as another auction venue.

Terms of eBay sales

Shipping
Westchester County does not offer shipping services.  The buyer is responsible for picking up all purhcased items from the designated location.

Payment
Full payment is due within four business days of notice of award. Winning bidder will receive an e-mail with payment instructions. Payment can also be made upon pickup of item(s).

Acceptable forms of payment are:

• U.S. Postal money order
• Official bank check issued by a U.S. bank made payable to Westchester County
• Exact cash when paid in person
• Credit card: Master Card, Visa, American Express or Discover

No other forms of payment are accepted.

Inspection
We recommend potential bidders inspect the item for sale prior to bidding. Viewing arrangements can be made by contacting the Westchester County Bureau of Purchase and Supplies warehouse at (914) 231-1429 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern U.S. time.
